Everything you need to know about the 2025 Scholarship by Prince William County Community Foundation

How do I apply?

Applications for the scholarship will become available January 27 during the year of application. They will remain available until the April 11, 2025 deadline. Applications may be picked up at your school’s guidance counselor’s office or online at the PWCCF website, https://pwccfoundation.org.

How much does it cost to apply for a scholarship?

Nothing, it is free to apply. You are responsible for paying mailing, printing, and any other associated costs to submit your application.

Can I send an unofficial transcript?

No, you must send an official transcript provided by your school guidance counselor.

What do I submit to apply for this scholarship?

A transcript • Essay on a given topic • Completed application • FAFSA Statement

I do not go to school in Prince William County, can I still apply?

No, you are ineligible as the scholarship is solely for Prince William County Public School high school senior students.

Can I email my application?

No, it must be sent by mail and postmarked by the April 11, 2025 deadline.

I took a gap year after graduating from high school, can I still apply?

No, students taking a gap year after graduation are not considered to be high school seniors.

How will I be notified if I receive the scholarship?

The Foundation will send a letter following up with an email. Please ensure you put your current address and an up-to-date email so we can notify you properly.

Can I apply if I am going to a community or junior college? Trade school?

Yes! We encourage students attending any accredited school to apply whether it is a four-year college, community/junior college, or a trade school.

When will I know if I have been selected to receive a scholarship?

Applicants should expect to hear back from the Foundation in early May.

Will I receive the money directly if I receive the scholarship?

The money will be sent directly to the school in which you plan to attend. Please make sure you include the correct address for the university/college.

If I am not selected for a scholarship, may I apply again next year?

No, the scholarship is only for high school seniors that are attending an institution directly after graduation.

For how long are scholarships awarded?

The scholarship is a one-time award.

What happens if I change colleges after initially being awarded a scholarship?

You must provide a letter of enrollment from the university/college in which you plan to attend to ensure you are a student at the institution.

We Care

The Prince William County Community Foundation’s Healthcare Initiative is working to collectively help improve the health and well-being of the residents in Prince William County. In collaboration with other community entities, the Foundation will provide information and share resources with other healthcare establishments to develop a plan that would collectively improve and promote strategies to improve the health of the residents.

The three categories of public healthcare needs to be identified in Prince William County were:

  • Substance Use/Abuse and Mental Health Conditions
  • Obesity, Access to Healthy Foods, and Physical Activity
  • Access to Healthcare (included dental care)

The Foundation will work together with community partners/leaders to better understand community health problems, prioritize health issues, help leaders to make informed decisions, and develop, implement, and evaluate a collective community health improvement effort.
